Let’s talk about AI

Robot

Before I go any deeper into this project, let’s address the elephant in the room, you know the slightly disturbing one with five legs and two trunks… Yep, you’ve guessed it – AI.

My take on AI

Last year I wrote a blog post on my web design business website which gave my take on AI. A lot of angst went into my decision. Ultimately the conclusion I came to, and one which feels very right for me, is that I wouldn’t be actively using AI in my business (or anywhere for that matter).

Now, I’m fully aware that it’s impossible to be completely AI-free – I recently found myself using AI-generated support on a website of one of my service providers. I couldn’t find a way around it, I needed support and that was how they were providing it. But I am doing what I can to avoid using AI tools for generating ideas, content, or website code myself.

What that means for this website

What that means for this site and any resources or services I provide through it, is that they will be created by humans. On the whole the human involved will be me, but I will also get help from other humans – for example the very lovely Emily Brown of Emily Brown Design who is responsible for my branding.

Any content, whether free, like this blog post and the freebie I’m about to start working on, or paid, will be written by me (or another trusted human in my team). There will be absolutely no AI slop allowed on this site. Human-generated slop, maybe, but none of that nonsense that AI likes to throw out.

It also means that if you’re looking for advice on how to build websites using AI, or how to use the latest AI tools in your business, you’re not going to have any luck. Does this mean that my approach may not be the latest snazziest thing? Yep. Am I apologetic? Absolutely not. I take pride in being able to do things myself and that my 51-year-old brain is still just about chugging along (yes, even taking the menopause into account!).

Does this sound like something you can get on board with? Drop me a line to say hello.
