For longer than I would like to admit, I’ve been wanting to create some kind of digital resource to create a passive income stream. I’m not sure if passive income is entirely the right phrase, I’m imagining all the people jumping up and down screaming THERE’S NO SUCH THING. But it will do.
What I mean is something that allows me to generate an income stream that doesn’t entirely rely on the number of hours I work.
But my problem is that I get so caught up in the day-to-day running of my business (Webfooted Designs) that I never manage to carve out the time to create something. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has that problem!
So I’ve had this idea of an experiment to see if I can create a side hustle in small bits of time. Why Project25? Because I love the Pomodoro Technique. I use it every day to pace myself and to help avoid prevarication. I think that 25 minutes is enough time to make a bit of progress and it’s a small enough commitment for me to be able to do it every day.
The idea, then, is to work on my digital product project for 25 minutes every day. Or, I should say, “most days” – I want consistency but without the dramatic “Oh I’ve failed!!!” if I miss a day. Because there will be days where even just 25 minute is impossible.
The question is this: is 25 minutes a day enough to build momentum and achieve something? I’m going to document this so that I can track my progress … and see if anyone else is interested in my experiment.

Shall we start with some introductions? Hi, I’m Emily. At the time of writing this I’m 51 years old and have been running my web design business, with my husband, for over twenty years. We’re based in the Far West of Cornwall in the UK, which is an amazing place to live and work but can sometimes feel a long way from anywhere (probably because it is).
I love what I do – building websites, and also the process of running a business. And I love being part of my local community. Over the last few years I’ve been very much concentrating on how I can use my skills and experience to benefit my local community (more on that another time) and this feels like a really good opportunity to share some of my experiences. Let’s see if I can bring all this together into something coherent!
